it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Students
I am very lucky to have a kind and colorful bunch of students this year!
My students are eager to learn and help their teachers and one another. They are thinkers, learners, questioners, and creators. They are quickly learning to embrace challenges, and striving to get better every day. There is nothing I want more than for my students to feel prepared for future success.
However, my amazing students reside in a neighborhood that would be considered of extremely low socioeconomic status.
Their parents often work multiple jobs in order to afford the necessities. 100% of the population at my school qualifies for free breakfast and lunch.
Of the 27 students in my classroom, 15 are English Language Learners, and 12 students have Individualized Education Programs. Eleven of these students are classified with both. This means they have to work that much more diligently to learn the English language and meet the Common Core Standards.
However, these challenges do not deter my students nor me, and we are always looking for innovative ways to level the playing field and close the achievement gap.
My Project
Technology is a vital component in exposing children to experiences outside of the classroom, which many of our children may not have had. These computers will also cater to the many different learning styles that students in today's classrooms possess. They will be able to complete essays, research on the internet, and even present their thinking using presentation software.
Through technology, students have access to curriculum in new and innovative ways.
They will be able to use many different programs such as i-Ready, MobyMax, and Myon to build skills that are crucial for closing the achievement gap and building student success.
