it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Sports Medicine is not only being taught in the classroom but rather on the playing fields and within the clinical setting as well. Students get the opportunity to receive on the job training, execute emergency scenarios and provide injury prevention and rehabilitation techniques for our athletes.
My Sports Medicine students are Sophomore-Senior high school students who have expressed an interest in the medical field.
Many of the students plan to attend college in order to major in Kinesiology or Biology and advance their education by becoming a Physician, Nurse, Physical Therapist, Chiropractor, Certified Athletic Trainer, Paramedic/EMT, etc. These students excel both in the classroom as well as within the clinical environment where they get to apply their hands-on learning techniques among their peers and members of the community. Without a doubt, many of my Sports Medicine students will be caring for us in the future as we rely on medical professionals to assist us with our health and wellness so that we can carry on with our activities of daily living.

Prevention and rehabilitation are key components for any successful sports program. My goal for the Athletic Training facility is to provide a wide range of scope of Sports Medicine rather than becoming a common triage area for minor injuries. Percussion therapy is a popular modality within athletics that assists with lactic acid release and can improve flexibility. The Hypervolt Hyperice percussion guns are the preferred method of manual therapy due to their functionality and can easily be applied before, during or after competition or practice in order to assist an athlete in their performance goals. The CHS Athletic Training facility supports the following sports programs on campus such as football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, baseball, softball, tennis, golf, track and field. All of the participating athletes are welcome to receive treatment within the facility and may benefit from the Sports Medicine supplies.
