I work at a school that is comprised of 75% African American and 25% English language learners. Additionally, approximately 100% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. I work at a high needs, Title I school. I teach third grade and this year, we are experimenting with a new program called, "I Can." It is quite rigorous academically and I believe that the introduction of cutting edge technology will make our lessons more engaging. I recently won a document camera and need an LCD projector in order to teach the interactive language arts, math, science and social studies lessons that will enable my students to be successful students.
In our school, teachers have to purchase most of the supplies other than writing paper and pencils. We have an outmoded overhead projector which requires expensive transparency film and constantly needs its bulb replaced. My students are not engaged with this outmoded technology.
With the new document camera, and a LCD projector, I will be able to introduce 3-D, cutting-edge technology that will enhance all of my lessons. Unfortunately, without a LCD projector, my document camera will be useless. I want to expose these students to new and exciting technology and an alive, hands-on curriculum. A LCD projector is needed to make this possible!
I believe that this new technology will truly engage my students in learning and will be a great leap forward from my current one-dimensional, hard-to-read, outdated overhead projector. Your support of this project can make all the difference in the world. My students and their parents cannot afford to purchase a LCD projector for our classroom. Your donation will go a long way toward guiding my students to the academic success that is needed in this new millennium.
