My Students

We are a very diverse multi-level, multi-cultural, multi-lingual fourth-grade classroom in Boston. My English as a Second Language (ESL) students are from all over the world and very eager to learn! Their diversity is not limited to their cultures or language, they are all very different learners and levels, in spoken and written English.

These students are working on being responsible, engaged, driven learners who have the tools they need to succeed available to them in the classroom.

We need tools for daily access to the new curriculum, reading reinforcement, math, writing (drafting and publishing), and numerous assessments.

My Project

English language learners need to talk. They need to hear others as wells themselves. Readers need to read aloud to be fluent. Writers need to read aloud to hear what their stories will sounds like to their audience. These days, student mathematicians need to read the word problems aloud to know what they are solving for.

Students need these phones to help them hear, produce, and comprehend words.

The words they are reading, the words they are writing, and the words that are giving them their math problems. Hearing the words help them comprehend texts. Listening to their own stories helps them to revise and edit their work. Reading a story problem aloud helps them to know what a math story problem is asking.

These phones will help them with their voice and confidence in all subject areas.
