Using Technology to Tailor Educational Talents!

Help me give my students new HP laptop computers that match the ones in our lab, so they may have access to completing their work and assessments in a timely manner.

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is excited to learn today?" They call back, "We are!"

As first graders, this is the first year they are in school a full day.

It is also the first time they have to log into a laptop, and to be assessed and directed to curriculum online. As we only have a short period of time in the computer lab; this leads to tears and a lack of self-confidence when they don't get the chance to finish!

It is very difficult for 6 year olds to focus on learning when they are so feeling lost and inadequate. The Chromebooks are not the same as the laptops in lab, so we are in need to help the kids succeed!

My school is in a middle class area, which makes it tough to garner extras for the class; we are not a Title I or SIG school, yet we are also not wealthy enough for parents to be able to donate costly extras. We are a "Tweener School"!

My Project

Six year olds need extra time to learn to log in and access the computer curriculum and assessments adopted by our district. The computer lab times are great, but ineffectual as they are short. This is frustrating for all of my students.

These laptops would allow my students the time to complete their work, and for me to tailor their work to their strengths, and provide intervention for their needs.

They would allow me to work with small groups daily on keyboarding, coding, and curriculum. Their confidence in their work would be raised and make them ready for grade 2. Thank you!
