Using Sensory Tools to Supporting Student Regulation and Focus

Help me give my students sensory equipment to support their ability to remain regulated and focused at school. Vibrating items, sound dampening headphones, visual timers, cuddle swings, and weighted items all support sensory systems.

My Project

Sensory items are vital in supporting students at school as they help create an environment conducive to learning by addressing individual sensory needs. Tools such as vibrating items and weighted objects provide deep pressure input and calming sensations, which can help students with sensory processing challenges feel more grounded and secure. Sound-dampening headphones enable students to reduce auditory distractions, fostering a more focused learning atmosphere. Visual timers assist in managing time and expectations, reducing anxiety around transitions. Additionally, cuddle swings offer a soothing motion that can help regulate sensory systems, allowing students to self-soothe and refocus. By incorporating these sensory supports, schools can empower students to maintain emotional regulation and concentration, ultimately enhancing their overall educational experience.
