How do we take hard-working, dedicated students and prepare them for success in a globalized, technology-driven, competitive environment? We must allow the students to develop content area skills and knowledge through application, while also teaching reliability, accountability, cooperation, collaboration, and the design process model. The opportunity to participate in competitive robotics helps meet this demand.
Socioeconomic status should never limit a student's exposure to potentially life-changing educational experiences.
Our Middle Years Programme pulls from across the entire school district and surrounding districts, many of which are Title I institutions. Competitive robotics provides a learning experience that transcends that of the traditional classroom and opens up pathways to student success.
The students of our programme have shown an incredible desire to learn. These young people exude what a student should be. They would be incredibly grateful for the opportunity to experience robotics. As a first year programme, our students would also be laying the foundation for students of the future.
My Project
The materials being requested, 4 VEX IQ robotics kits, will allow students to learn at the highest level according to researchers, which is creating! Students will be using these robots to enhance their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Through participating in robotics, students will develop technological literacy when programming the robotics to complete certain tasks.
The ability to create design briefs, design models, test your product, and refine your product to operate more efficiently enhances a child's understanding of learning that transcends content, time, place, or space.
The overall goals of this project is to give students additional outlets/opportunities in which their strengths in math, science, and technology can be built upon.
