Help me give my students a new way to look at imaginative play. With a puppet show, pet shop and mini grocery store set up my students' imaginations will soar.
My students are ages 3-5 in a north side neighborhood. My students are part of the Headstart supplemental program in which they receive a quality preschool education at no cost.
I love engaging my students in activities and projects that make them use a higher level of thinking.
And I love keeping them actively engaged. They are very active and like to talk and discuss a variety of topics that they are interested in.
Out of twenty students, half of them will be going to kindergarten in the fall, while the other half will be coming back next year. I would like to give them an experience in preschool that they can take with them for years to come.
My Project
With donations from both PNC bank and early childhood staff, we opened a Giving Closet in our school. Filled with adult and child clothes,as well as toys and household items, this is a resource for our families, both for everyday needs and in times of crisis. This endeavor has grown rapidly, and we therefore need additional racks and hangers.
Developing young children’s imaginations in dramatic play i believe helps every child learn and grow.
The second part of this project is just for that...imaginary play.
I’m excited for my students to use their wonderful imaginations and the materials in this project to bring real life jobs and situations into the classroom. I think it will also help them understand some units in our curriculum, like using a real cash register and pretending to be a vet to help stuffed animals.
