Established in 1979, our school provides educational and support services for children with hearing or vision loss in our school system. Some of the students have additional challenges that magnify the impact of the vision or hearing loss. Each of the students has special needs and requires extensive technology and assistance to succeed in a school setting.
Students attend classes at one of three locations: the elementary, middle, or high school campus.
In addition, itinerant services are provided throughout our county for students whose disability is not severe enough to require full-time placement at one of the campuses. Services are also provided in several area counties.
STEM is a wonderful program that promotes academic growth not only in Science and Math but across the curriculum.
These materials will encourage our students to get hands on with STEM and continue to learn!
The birdhouses and tools will be used with our older students to build birds around our school a new habitat. This will bring a variety of different discussions about different types of birds (large/small/colors, etc.) and how we need to take care of our environment and all animals that live in it.
The pencil grips will help our younger students who are learning to write to do it properly. Handwriting is so important in learning, a few misplaced lines changes numbers drastically!
The Jello and Robot molds will be used to have some fun learning how to measure, pour, mix, and create structures with their food. How fun, getting to make the jello- build with it- then eat it!
These materials will encourage our students to think outside the box, work on life skills, and build team work in completing these task!
