My Students

My students come from a variety of backgrounds and economic income levels I have discovered that my students love being challenged with engineering design and taking risks. This project allows us to take a risk while using our imaginations to design while learning at the same time.I love my school, I love my students.

I am a committed teacher that is willing to work hard to be a great teacher, however, I cannot do it alone.

We are a Title I Targeted Assistance School that comes from many diverse backgrounds, from military families to single families. These factors don't phase them; I see each and every one of them working to get the most out of the classroom. Despite significant challenges, they work hard to make themselves the best they can be in our City School District LEGOs don’t seem like much, but most of my students would never have the chance to explore and build LEGOs if they didn't have my class. Students asked how I got all my LEGOs for class and never thought much of it, when they explained how expensive they were and they couldn't afford them because of their high cost I knew I needed it.

My Project

My students come to my class to get the best experience possible, while being challenged to do their best and have fun. I too want to challenge my students even more with this project. My students have just begun to know the possibilities that LEGOs bring to the classroom. We will be covering the different countries during our geography units in the 7th grade and to prepare I have decided that we want to incorporate LEGOs into our final product that will give them more of a hands-on experience. This unit will culminate with the student building a recreation of something learned "Empowering Students Through Art".Students discussed this project and chose it over other products. This project essentially becomes a maker project. Students will create, explore, and build a project to recreate sites learned. This will allow students choice and promote engineering and design and art in the classroom. This maker project will allow my students to have free choice in designing a historical event.

My students will be able to cooperatively work with a partner to build scenes to represent places that learned about, and many more images from the various geography units covered.

This project will engage students and promote engineering in history while being hands on in the arts, Empowering Students Through Art.
