Can you imagine life without a voice? This is the challenge facing my students daily. They need an iPad 3 to communicate throughout their day - with friends, family, and people in their community.
My students are a group of elementary school children diagnosed with autism.
They go to a special education school in which there are 6 children in each class. All of my students receive related services (Speech, OT, PT) multiple times a week. Each of my students is different and special and they deserve the most up-to-date technological advances. They make me smile everyday.
My Project
My students NEED an iPad 3. The importance of the iPad 3 during Speech and Language therapy is endless. To start, the iPad 3 can and will be used as a part of my students' communication systems. They will have a voice! The iPad 3 will be used as a programmatic communication device to aide in classroom activities, pull-out sessions, and in the community. This will allow my nonverbal and/or minimally verbal students to quickly and efficiently access language - all while using a cool and up-to-date electronic! My end goal is for my students to be able to use their iPad in the community - to exchange money at a local store, to ask questions if lost or confused, and to be able to answer simple questions about themselves.
An iPad 3 is a portable, durable, affordable, and life changing device for my students.
My students will finally be given a voice to communicate in school, at home, and in the community.
