My Students

My students consist of a diverse population of sixth graders in a middle school setting. They have a desire to learn more about science and the natural world around them. In my class, students are being introduced to new concepts and are excited to experience hands on labs and experiments.

I want to see my students take on a new level of ownership in their learning and develop life skills that will help them become successful, scientific thinkers of our future.

Encouraging educational use of technology is vital for my students to increase engagement and interest level in the classroom. My students value the technology they have access to and this will allow many students in the future to benefit from these resources as well.

My Project

I am requesting a set of 10 HP Streams for my sixth grade science classroom. Technology is an incredibly powerful tool that can positively impact the education of today's youth. Students today are surrounded by many different devices and resources, but often do not realize the significant impact technology can make. I would like to provide my students with regular access to technology so they can access resources that will positively impact their educational experience.

In my class students will utilize laptops to enhance their growing knowledge of the multiple disciplines of science in countless ways.

Students would be able to complete online science simulations and virtual labs. This would allow for abstract concepts to become more concrete and would encourage interest in multiple disciplines of science, technology and engineering. Having a set of 10 HP Streams would allow for more small group instruction and stations in my classroom, allowing for students to become more proficient scientists .

Additionally, the HP Streams would be used to complete research for projects when problem solving. Often in my class, students are presented with a real world problem that they have to solve and having the ability to research various sources helps the students become more familiar with the problem they are tasked with solving.
