This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bright and enthusiastic first graders attending a gifted magnet school in California. They are eager to learn and I want to foster an engaging and age-appropriate learning environment to help my students meet their potential academically, personally, and socially. From Day 1, I refer to my students as scholars and throughout the year we work together to develop our scholarly qualities in a supportive and challenging classroom environment. Having different and organized spaces for my students to interact is important.
My Project
These books will be a wonderful addition to our classroom library. I love reading a variety of books to my students. I try to choose books from different genres to inspire their love of reading and motivate them to read more. The books I've selected include the Questioneers series, including characters who all overcome obstacles to follow their passions. I've also chosen books that represent different backgrounds and cultures. All of these books provide characters that my students can use to inspire them to reach for their goals. I'd love to read some of these book aloud and create book clubs for students to explore topics in small groups.
