This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are working hard to make the best of first grade. They are a very diverse group of first graders ready to be challenged and eager to learn. They missed out being in a kinder class for a whole year. They missed all the fun kinder projects and are lacking some of those fun motor skills that come with art activities. They are learning how to cut and paste and work in groups making fun hand on projects.
My Project
The following Nevada Academic Content Standards 1.DA.S.1 Recognize that a variety of data (e.g., music, video, images, text) can be stored in and retrieved from a computing device and P.5.a Paint using varied media, techniques, and processes are considered for my project. Students will learn to use data stored in tablet or camera to write about their art. They will also be able to paint using varied media, techniques and processes.
This year our school was not able to hire an Art teacher and students will be missing out on their visual Art education as first graders.
For the students, I want to be able to integrate Art with the other important core subjects by having them use their creativity to express themselves using the items I'm requesting such as tablets, camera and art supplies.
