My Project

My students are exceptional! My class full of 12th grade students have been through a monumental amount of life changing events. They have survived through a pandemic, ongoing climate crisis and so much more, all while continuing to be great students and scholars. As a teacher, I am inspired by their perseverance and tenacity and want make sure that I am prepared to support them as needed.

As they continue to tackle various world events and plan their post-secondary goals, I want to support them and make sure that my classroom has the supplies that they need to be successful.

My classroom has a strong focus on supporting all types of learners and emotional support. As a math classroom, all of my students process and demonstrate understanding of content differently. I use a variety of resources to allow them the freedom to best demonstrate their mastery. Some scholars use white boards for feedback, while others prefer to present through large poster boards.

As I support my students emotionally, I do small check-ins with them weekly, using sticky notes to dictate their current mood. That post it note will give me a snap shot of my students mood and allow me to have deeper conversations and check-ins with students of high concern.

Finally, I allow my students to have independence within the classroom, so I utilize hanging file folders to create a mail box for students. Within their mailboxes, they can find graded work, permission slips, absent work and other documents to collected and reviewed on their own time! Having that system in place, relieves me of passing back work and to spend more class time checking in with my students emotionally and mathematically!
