Using 3D Printing to Make it Themselves!

Help me give my students a 3D printer and filament to create their own manipulatives.

My Project

My high school students are an eclectic bunch, ranging from my extremely curious Integrated Science 9th graders to the 11th and 12th graders in our rigorous Anatomy & Physiology class. The beauty of a 3D printer is its infinite applications and the accessibility of use—if you can gain access to one.

This 3D printer and filament will foster students' problem solving skills, develop technology literacy, and empower students to embrace creativity.

My Integrated Science students will use the 3D printer to connect the scientific method and the engineering design process, a connection that is too often neglected in science classes. Students will identify basic real-world problems, design solutions in open-source computer software, and print their prototypes out.

My Anatomy & Physiology students will use the 3D printer to directly support their understanding of the science behind the human body. They will design and create tangible anatomical structures that would ordinarily be cost prohibitive for us to acquire.
