Help me give my students a chance to experience art thru watercolor. I teach reading intervention and use art as a way to explore the many topics we are learning about.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Unfortunately, all of my students have been unsuccessful in their regular reading classes. My task is to make reading more enjoyable and try to get them motivated to read on their own. I am using a thematic approach this year and want to incorporate art into the lessons. This gives them some motivation and helps my students that learn in different ways. For example, we are currently studying the desert biome. My students created acrylic paintings of succulents. They turned them into bookmarkers and cards. They were able to tell me the parts of the plants and what jobs they do to keep the succulent alive in the desert. I also need a printer in my classroom as the one provided by my school is broken. I want to make copies of their work and send it home with them to redo incorrect work on a daily basis.
