These books have made a real difference for my students.. Having their own copy of this powerful, engaging novel has been a game-changer. For some, this is the first time they've connected with a book on a personal level.\r\n\r\nAs we read Touching Spirit Bear, my students are exploring themes like accountability, healing, and transformation—lessons that go far beyond the page. Yes, we are diving into character development, figurative language, and how authors use setting and symbolism to reflect inner change, but more importantly, we're using Cole's journey as a starting point for conversations about our own choices and how we grow from them. \r\n\r\nThey see parts of themselves in Cole and the story makes them think differently about anger and second chances. These are the kind of lessons they really need right now. In the ever increasing costs of project supplies, 3rd party monetary assistance is key to a robust learning experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. \r\n\r\nUpon retiring from the Army in 2005, I began this journey in secondary education. From my military background and education, I'm able to draw from these experiences to promote a collaborative but competitive classroom. It is a blast to see the wheels turning in the mind of children as they find solutions to their project shortfalls. When all 5 of my classes saw the abundance of materials arrive, you could hear the excitement stirring as they would have enough material to build their own project. (In the past groups of 3 or 4 would build the bridge project due to financial constraints) YAY! [https://photos.app.goo.gl/Bw4Vv22DSVJBH99F6] This link shows the students having fun designing and building the truss bridge and discovering the strength of the triangle. \r\n\r\nThese pictures and videos say it all, overall this project was a total success.
