U.S.A. Classroom Postcard Exchange

Help me give my students supplies to create postcards and then display the postcards from 50 states as we receive them.

My Project

I am so excited to have the opportunity to participate in a postcard exchange with our 1st graders and a class from every state in the United States. The students will help decide what we want to share that makes our school and state unique. We will type up the information and print them on labels to put on Texas postcards. Students will help put the stamps on the postcards, too. We will mail them no later than December 31st. We should receive one postcard from every state from another classroom!

As the postcards come in, we will learn about each state and we will display them on a "USA Classroom Postcard Exchange" bulletin board in our first grade hallway!

Students will have an opportunity to read each postcard and then locate where it came from on the map. In the past when we have done something similar, our students were so excited when they could make connections to classes in other states or if they had visited that state or have family members living there.

This is such a fun way to incorporate geography and similarities and differences around the country!
