My Students
Our students attend a Title I kindergarten through eighth grade, bilingual school in downtown Santa Ana, California, a low-income and high-risk community. The mission of our school is to nurture all learners to become creative, critical thinkers by providing high quality standards-based instruction through the arts, technology, language and culture in Spanish and English.
70% of our students live below the poverty line and 20% are homeless.
We believe all students can be successful and learn best through self-inquiry, hands-on experiences, and fostering their love for learning. We strive to meet the wholistic needs of the child.
My Project
My students are in urgent need of a good pencil sharpener. We waste a lot of time sharpening pencils with manual pencil sharpeners everyday. It is really hard to focus and be able to do your work when sharpening your pencil takes so long and you have to take turns. They also need writing journals, a butterfly net to be able to safely see the lifecycle of monarch butterflies and wind chimes to use during our mindfulness and yoga classes. These items would make a big difference to our class every single day! Please help us get the materials to we need.
