Urban Bird Watching

Help me give my students authentic opportunities to observe and appreciate nature in our urban setting. I can install the hook for the bird feeder outside our window where we can observe every day!

My Students

Our school is full of explorers, performers and inventors.

Each child brings their own creativity to our Title I, Visual and Performing Arts program.

From Kindergarten through 5th grade students are submerged into content through the arts. Our vision reflects our school’s spirit: “Through the arts, students will be inspired to become creative problem solvers, productive citizens, and life-long learners.” Each day they come with a flurry of questions to be answered about their world and our STEAM lab encourages that and more.

My Project

Helping our students to appreciate our planet is a priority of mine, especially as a STEAM teacher. Living and teaching in an urban setting provides many wonderful opportunities for teachers to be creative when helping our students to observe the natural world around us.

I am excited for my students to carefully observe and provide for animals in our backyard.

They will learn so much about how humans can help their environment and be motivated to want to learn more. Their questions will lead them to migration explorations, adaptations, survival, among many other topics. The birds will be our guide to appreciating our planet.
