Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's change the way our children learn about the world around us by incorporating the use of science kits and technology. These materials will allow my first graders to use interactive resources that will help enrich their learning while remaining environmentally friendly.

In a rural community in Porter, Texas I teach 44 students in our dual-language program using a curriculum that teaches children both English and Spanish simultaneously.

Seventy-five percent of my children are labeled socio-economically disadvantaged, and a great many of them do not possess the finances to have technology in their homes. That is why I would like to incorporate these materials in my classroom, so my bright-eyed, eager children will be even more excited about attending school. I hope to receive these materials to make my lessons more interactive, purposeful, and environmentally friendly.

My Project

My students need an environmental science kit, laptop, and wireless mouse for our environmental science project. My students will use the environmental science kit and laptop to create an enriching classroom learning environment, while learning about the world around them. The science kit will provide comprehensive, hands-on lessons that span our curriculum! From wood samples and rock specimens to recycling bins and sorting cards, the theme box is packed with materials that will help my children explore the natural world and learn how to protect it. With the laptop, my children will be able to watch grade-appropriate environmental videos and play interactive games to learn how we can protect the environment. To conclude our environmental theme, the children will brainstorm ideas and complete a project on how they can save the environment. These materials will ensure that all students are actively learning and participating in our lessons.

My students will use these materials daily!

The science kit and laptop will guarantee an interactive learning experience in which students are collaborating with peers and engaged in the whole group lessons presented. Catch them young! Please help my students get excited about saving the environment!
