This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in Maryland. I teach in a middle school classroom. It's a pretty small school in comparison to many other schools in our area.

How can I describe my students?

Bold. Outspoken. Inquisitive. Smart. Silly. Funny. Those are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of my students.

My students push themselves to succeed and learn new things on a daily basis. They persevere through adversities. I absolutely love my students, and I can't wait to see what positive things they contribute to the world.

My Project

Each and every single day, students read for 10-15 at the start of each class. This helps to build a culture of reading and helps students understand the value books bring to any environment.

Unfortunately, the bookshelves that were purchased earlier in the school year from another merchant were extremely flimsy, and have broken, so students no longer have an appropriate place for their numerous books.

Additionally, the shelving requested in this project will be much sturdier (I hope) so that students will have a reliable place to put their books, which they read often. The laminating supplies will be used to laminate related student work samples to post around class and around the school.
