Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My seventh grade students are a diverse group of mathematicians who are eager to learn, collaborate and expand their tool belts of knowledge. Each student brings a unique set of skills, abilities and experiences. My students represent various cultures from around the world and speak multiple languages.

All of my students are creative individuals who are highly motivated by technology.

Though our school is located in an affluent neighborhood, we do not have adequate funding to provide much needed technology and other resources for our classrooms. Some of my students only have access to resources at school which limits their likelihood of success.

My Project

Having Chromebooks available in class will allow students to actively engage with concepts being taught in class which meet the Common Core state standards.

Since we don't have enough physical textbooks for a class set, with Chromebooks, students will be able to use a digital textbook in class.

They will also be able to use digital resources and tools available with our curriculum. State standards require students to be proficient with the use of digital math tools as well as physical tools. Having Chromebooks in our classroom will allow students to access online supplemental resources like Khan Academy, which provide skills practice aligned with Math standards and SBAC testing format.
