Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our library is a place of fun, excitement, and exploration for students Pre-K to fifth grade. We are a Title 1 school with a high poverty rate located in a large district with very little funding. Our students love to explore and make connections with the real world.

Inquisitive, Ambitious, Energetic, Creative...These are just a few words that describe my students when they visit the library.

My students love the library and I want them to think of it as the center of their learning environment. In order to accomplish this we need technology that can enrich their learning experience.

My Project

Our library currently has an outdated TV mounted to a wall that I use to project library lessons, some of which require me to model for students how to navigate different databases. This has made social distancing students difficult because the TV can't be adjusted so everyone can see. We are in desperate need of a bigger TV that can be moved around the library.

Having a larger TV on a mobile cart will help students see and understand the lessons more clearly, allow for variations in teaching spaces, and bring our library up to date with better technology.
