Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a giant poster hanging at the front of my classroom that says, "We can do HARD things!!" Every day my students grow in and out of the classroom and I want each of them to know that they can be successful by doing hard things.
My students are survivors.
Many of them have experienced things I could not imagine, yet they thrive. They encounter many hardships on a daily basis, but come to school with hope and a smile on their face. Our school works hard to provide support and a safe environment for learning and success.
My Project
Every morning during intervention time students rotate to different centers. One of the centers is a listening center. Here my students are able to listen and follow along in a book. I will use the iPods from DonorsChoose as my listening center. By having individual books and iPods my students can pick a story that interests them and allow them to guide their own learning.
My students are growing up in a world that is filled with technology.
However, many of my students do not have the means to experience what we may take for granted. I want to give them the opportunity to have these experiences in a safe environment.
