My Students

Working for the school system during the last four years has been a significant opportunity to provide academic support to EL students attending public schools.

I work with about 30 kids that qualified for EL and all of them are so excited to read books in their home language.

This is a Title I elementary school in Albemarle NC, which is serving a low income community that has access to free meals for all their kids. Many of my kids speak Spanish, they love to read, but unfortunately there is not enough learning material in Spanish they can use.

Spanish speakers' parents are also asking for Spanish books that would allow them to have a special reading time with their kids, this creates a sense of bond and connection that many other activities don't do. I am taking this challenge because I want to do something for the community that I belong to.

My Project

The books I am requesting will empower students to read books in their home language. Having the ability to speak two languages is letting them have more opportunities in the futuro. But speaking the language is more than just speaking, it is increasing and upgrading their vocabulary and knowledge to build a strong foundation and background.

It is important to understand the concept of diversity and the meaningful effect it has in our society.

America is a blessed country that ambrace great future, no matter where are you from. The opportunities to learn are opened to everybody, just take them.
