My students come into school every day eager to learn, full of energy and light, and can't wait to see what we are going to learn that day! The thing that I love most about my students is we are a classroom family. We are in this together. We work hard, learn a lot, help each other even when things are tough.
Like every classroom, my students have various needs.
I have students who are excelling above grade level and need to be challenged. I have students who are well-below grade level who qualify for resource interventions. Several students in my class this year are ELLs or English Language Learners. These students need more exposure to vocabulary to make connections and to develop their background knowledge.
Helping each student on their individual level is a challenge, but I know I can make a difference to help each student meet their potential. I strive to make my classroom a positive and consistent environment to foster learning and development for every student.
My Project
The last 3 years have thrown myself and my students for a loop! To say the least! I am seeing the effects of COVID-19 in the lives of my students. Students are more anxious and are in need of more physical movement throughout the day. I am asking for wobble stools to assist with this need. This will allow them to wiggle while they work.
I am asking for some STEM building blocks to help students with their social, emotional, and mental well-being.
These blocks can be used for "breaks" in the classroom. They will be a fine addition to other STEM related materials I currently have. I find that letting students have a "break" from the usual routine or as a calm down time, really helps students focus more in class.
There are some other things that I am asking for to help update some resources that have seen better days. New privacy folders, carts with wheels, new headphones for students, and a classroom calendar will really refresh my classroom.
