This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a special education class for students with exceptional needs. Our students learn using an alternate curriculum. Most of our students are nonverbal, but they are able to communicate using sign language, gestures, and alternative communication devices. I have eleven curious students who do not let their disabilities limit them from learning and accessing the world around them.They are eager to learn and share what they know with everyone they meet. They are friendly and very inquisitive. Our students come to school with a positive attitude and enjoy learning and helping one another.
Scaffolding our students' learning is essential to their academic success - now and in their future.
We will use this iPad and cover to provide small-group instruction with our students. The n2y alternate curriculum is online so students have to log-in using their iPad provided by the district. Our students are at different academic and cognitive levels, so we have to provide small-group learning opportunities to differentiate the learning. Having this iPad will allow us to show our students how to follow along and complete their assigned tasks.
