My Students
I teach at Forbes Elementary in American Fork, Utah. I have 12 first through fifth graders in my small group classroom for children with autism.
My students are expected to work hard each day and typically meet that expectation.
We have a wide range of capabilities and difficulties that make our classroom fun and interesting. Throughout the school year we work on the academics of a typical classroom such as math, reading and writing, in addition we learn self-help, functional and social skills
My Project
My classroom has students that range in abilities from Pre-K to third grade. In order to work in groups that will meet each child's needs I need updated technology. I am requesting two iPads that will be used in class and small group instruction.
My class needs the newer iPads to support apps that are engaging for my students.
Technology, specifically iPads have proven to be very beneficial in my experience and they can be used to support instruction in every area of learning. The Apple TV will be used to project apps from the iPad when we are working together as a whole group.
I am also requesting sensory materials. My students are on the Autism Spectrum and the need for sensory regulation is very important to their success.
