I have the pleasure of having such an amazing and diverse group of students. My students have been placed in a self-contained classroom for students labeled as having multiple disabilities. My students have disabilities that range from intellectual to physical disabilities, to other health impairments.
Some of students require intensive, individualized, and frequent instruction to allow them to be as functional and independent within the community.
Some skills that are of the utmost importance are communication skills (having their own communication system), basic math skills (like number recognition), and basic literacy skills (like identifying letters or their names).
Most importantly, despite disabilities and being in a low-income area, they are great students. They are crazy, fun-loving, determined, and bright young minds. They make my day interesting and not one single day is the same. That's the life of a special education classroom, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
My Project
After years of use, the whiteboards and corkboards in my classroom need some updating.
The classroom needs an updated data display and an updated objective of the day display.
They need a facelift - more color, larger, and more eye catching. The cork boards go underneath the whiteboards to help show the work that we've done to get that data and work on those daily objectives.
The bag is to provide the classroom staff with a new bag to go to and from resource classes and the cafeteria. This bag holds all our gloves, wipes, tissues, extra masks, etc.
