This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth grade library needs a desperate book make-over. The books are so outdated, they are falling apart. My wide range of students need to experience a fresh wind of stories.
Our school is largely Hispanic and predominately low income.
My fourth grade classroom consists of both bilingual and monolingual students. My classroom also contains kids with autism and other special needs. My students' reading levels range from first through fourth grade. They currently have reading boxes that they can't wait to fill during their silent reading time. Getting books that are new and fresh will excite them as they tackle their different reading needs.
My Project
My library is a central part of my reading instruction. Updating the library will be a huge advantage over all the reading struggles my students are facing. I am requesting books that are of interest to a variety of my students. Lower level nonfiction books for my classroom can make a difference in their independent choice for reading.
You can make a difference in the struggles I face as a teacher, as I try to differentiate their reading instruction.
When students have these books in their hands and are able to read them, you are making a difference in their lives. I need help in updating my library so that all my students have an opportunity to read a varied amount of genres and levels. Thank you for choosing my project.
