Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school in over 90% 1st generation and newly immigrated students and over 80% of all our students are free/reduced meals. Having positive experiences in their lives are few. With the help of Donors Choose, many have helped me bring basic classroom needs to our students and me, as well as the other teachers in my department, thank you! Now I am ready to do my part to try helping my students feel like their school is a warm inviting place where they and others belong regardless of the way they look, the way they worship, or the language they feel most comfortable to speak at home.
Next school year I want to sponsor a upcycle craft club, during the extracurricular times during the week.
I need help having the tools (paint, glues, craft supplies, wire, paint brushes, and storage for it all). I am starting with nothing and I don't even have anywhere to store 1 tin can, let a lone all the supplies I am asking, hence why the most expensive item on my list is a storage cart. My intentions with my new venture is to promote a positive school culture that includes all stakeholders (students, staff, and student's parents) and with your help, I am sure I will be moving in the right direction.
