Upcycled Innovation Station: Part 2: Cardboard Boogaloo

Help me give my students MAKEDO DISCOVER Kits to support them in continuing our Upcycling Projects using repurposed cardboard to create, design, and explore the design process and upcycling.

My Project

My students become excited when they have a chance to explore STEM topics and become even more excited when they are allowed to create and design.

This project will combine aspects of Explorative Learning, Creative Design Processes, Building Coordination, Inclusion and Recycling/Upcycling to engage, excite, and enlighten students.

After the first DonorsChoose project was funded, my students and I have used our tools to make things like animals, settings, and masks. Our tools (like scissors) however are not completely friendly to our students with disabilities, or those who lack the fine motor skills needed to operate them.

With these MAKEDO Kits we can add to our makerspace and allow students with disabilities and those younger students who lack fine motor skills to better participate in these projects safely.

Students can become engineers designing cities to explain geography, create materials and costumes for acting out parts of a play or story, or use shapes and patterns to design structures for math lessons. The possibilities become endless when we give the students the tools they need. Please consider helping my students find every possibility they can.
