Help me give my students a full body reclining swing and talking tiles voice recorder so they can be included in all environments.

My Students

Hi! I teach a classroom of phenomenal students with significant disabilities and autism. I have students in kindergarten, first grade, second grade, and fourth grade.

They are an exceptional group of kids that deserve to be included in all environments at school.

At this time, our playground does not have accessible swings for our students with significant special needs. We would like to be able to include them in recess time and have a swing for them to access. The general education students on our campus love interacting with our students and I am convinced they would enjoy watching them swing as much as our students would enjoy swinging.

We would also like to provide various ways for our nonverbal students to communicate in the classroom and when they are among their non-disabled peers. At this time we have limited ways to achieve this goal. It is very important for our students to be able to communicate and interact with others.

My Project

The swing will enable all of our students to be included during recess because they will be able to participate in their favorite activity on the playground.

It will open up an opportunity for them to communicate with their non-disabled peers when they greet them on their way to the swings.

The talking tiles will be utilized so our students can greet their peers and possibly even tell them a joke or two. When our students are on the playground they laugh and smile as the students come up and greet them, what an exceptional experience it will be for them to return that greeting!
