My Students
Our early childhood school is now in its thirteenth year serving the community. In our pre-k class, that means over one hundred and eighty students have come and gone from this classroom. Along with that, many other students have called our room home for enrichment classes, after school programs and summer camp.
Families send their precious children to our class every day, for us to help them take those first steps towards accomplishing great feats.
Our families are working-class parents who often work long hours to provide for their children.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. It's something we take pride in, and we hope to continue doing what we love to do and that nurtures their love of learning.
I've been teaching at my first and current school for seven years. No matter who enters through that door, they are part of our school family. I hope to provide them with the absolute best education we can offer.
My Project
The United States Postal Service is facing a bleak financial situation, a pandemic and controversial changes due to political events. The essential workers who we relied on so much before and especially during the pandemic need our help.
Barack Obama said "Everyone depends on the USPS; Seniors for their Social Security, veterans for their prescriptions, small businesses trying to keep their doors open." This is especially true for the families of our school community.
Many elders are the main caretakers for the parents who own small businesses and rely on the USPS.
I want our students to show support for the USPS by writing letters to their loved ones, friends, and even strangers who wish to receive anonymous letters from our students. They aren't old enough to vote but they are old enough to make a difference by writing and drawing.
I am requesting postage stamps, paper, pens, and envelopes to get this project started so we can start mailing out letters to help keep the United States Postal Service.
"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" it is now up to us to be vigilant like the essential mail carriers to help save the USPS.
