My Students
Our early childhood school is now in its 14th year serving the community. In our pre-K class, that means over 180 students have come and gone from this classroom. Along with that, many other students have called our room home for enrichment classes, after-school programs, and summer camp.
Families send their precious children to our class every day for us to help them take those first steps towards accomplishing great feats.
Our families are working-class parents who often work long hours to provide for their children.
There is nothing more rewarding for a teacher than connecting with the students and the families they serve on an emotional level. I am very fortunate to be able to teach in the very same community I grew up in.
I see much of my younger self in my students and see the similarities between my own parents and their parents. The stories, experiences, culture, food, and beliefs their families share have a lot in common with my own family.
My Project
The modern classroom set up needs to be ready to move at any given time. We are entering a new phase in education where teaching can be taught anywhere remotely. Our technology needs to be up to date as well as ready to move.
Teaching students remotely last year has taught me that our technology needs to be up to date and ready to move wherever and whenever.
When one tech fails, the other HAS to be ready to take its place and do the job well to keep our students engaged and learning.
I am requesting a new laptop that will help create engaging learning materials for our kids in person and remote if needed. High end laptops are necessary to handle the engaging videos, slides, and other digital materials that are presented onto our Smartboard. While it's not ideal for us to be so heavily reliant on technology, the pandemic has proven that it is crucial for us to be able to access technology. If there is ever a case for our class to switch to remote learning, our kids will be prepared and the materials will be very familiar.
Because of my experience teaching virtually, there have been new daily routines that has been adapted into our classroom that uses technology. Our students will follow daily lessons conducted on the laptop. They will use the laptop to check in their feelings, sign in on the digital attendance, and conduct our calendar and weather routine as part as of our morning meetings.
Tech resources will help enhance our classroom instruction since the modern classroom must rely on it when needed. Technology is always updating. We are asking that you help keep our classroom technology up to-date and ready to move at any given moment.
