Help me give my students the resources they need to engage them in language arts, science and social studies. We will use the post-it, maps, chalk, push pins and compasses for our geography lessons.
COVID-19 restrictions during the formative learning years for these students meant that they potentially spent their first 4 years of life without interactions with others except members of their own family. Students potentially did not attend nursery school or pre-school where children have the opportunity to interact with others and build social-emotional skills and effective communication.
The chalk, push-pins, maps, compasses and post-it chart will be used in our geography lessons about maps and map features which will foster those communication skills and help students build their social-emotional skills.
The cardstock, Velcro dots, pouches and chalk will be used for life science lessons where the students learn about structures and functions. The students will design and engineer something to show how we can mimic animals' structures to solve human problems. This also is an opportunity for students to build their communication skills and how to work with others effectively. The Jenga, blends and digraphs resources will be used to reinforce foundational reading skills that first graders need to master in order to become incredible readers.
