My Students
My students are awesome! I teach at a Philadelphia public school that qualifies for Title I funding. My entire class qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students live in a single-parent household and some of them are being cared for by a foster family or extended family members.
Despite the challenges my students face, they come each day with a great attitude.
Many of them have faced hardships that you would never want any child to ever experience. I provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can learn and progress.
My Project
My students are missing the close-up and personal look like in a science lab or historical investigator. A webcam will provide a close up look at materials otherwise difficult to show with the camera embedded on teacher laptops. I will be able to provide a close and detailed look as I complete demonstrations, show primary sources, or even model how to do annotations on primary and secondary sources. With a webcam, I can focus on small areas, zoom in on details, or zoom out to show larger items for learners. For an upcoming science lesson, students will follow teacher demonstration as I lead investigation by being able to see clearer. This allows learners to be able to write, illustrate, document, record, and engage with science inquiry.
