Help me give my students whiteboards, pencils and other things they need to be successful in this upcoming school year. All that is requested is for the classroom. All supplies will help each scholar become successful this year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As an 1st year 5th grade teacher, I am setting the tone for my classroom. Subjects such as Math, Science, Health and Social Studies will be taught with fidelity. Each item on the list like dry erase markers, crayons, whiteboards , pens and pencils will help those students without or who forgot their supplies. Students will be able to use the dry erase markers to work out Math problems, make Science comparisons models and other things. Having the supplies on hand will limit the stress that may come because the student didn’t have or forgot them in turn that will limit distractions and behavior problems. Our students come to school with stressors that we can’t control but to walk into a classroom where at least one stressor is eliminated helps them a lot.
My goal for this project is to get as many supplies as possible so that I can have them for the school year to help where it’s needed.
Each student that enters my classroom will be able to use the supplies and not have the burden of going without. I have seen the difference in my students when they know supplies are there for their use. Each student will have their own supplies that will benefit their learning.
Most of these students that I am receiving this year are the babies that I taught in 3rd grade. We know each other and they are comfortable working with me. They will be taking 2 state exams this year which is enough stress, so as their teacher I want to eliminate as much stress as possible for them. The only thing is that we are older and this is a different grade that will prepare them for Middle school and beyond.
