My Project

Every year, my school offers a limited after school programming where students can sign up for classes based on their interests. Over the years, I have led different crafting classes such as needle felting, zine making, and sewing; each year, the number of students who sign up has grown.

It's no secret that after sometimes staring at different screens to complete work during the school day, students want a way to unwind and creatively express themselves in a low-risk, low-tech environment.

So this year, I have decided to offer an after school makerspace with a broader focus of crafting so that students have the choice of what they want to create in any medium they wish.

The supplies listed below are a mixture of refilling current supplies that have gone low and new supplies that we're excited to try out. The ink cartridges and copy paper are for the printer we received through a previous donation. The laminator will be used to preserve some of the students' artwork. The art supplies such as paper, glue, scissors, markers, and pens will be used each week in crafting. Lastly, the cyanotype paper will be a new and exciting addition to try out this year.

This after school class will provide students with the space to teach and learn from each other new techniques while also giving them a low-risk environment to be encouraged to try something new. It will also provide a space for students of different backgrounds to come together to make connections in their community through crafting and art.

We are grateful for any donations and are excited to strengthen our creative muscles with Crafternoon! Thank you so much!
