My Project
In this forensic science project, students will engage in a hands-on fetal pig autopsy to explore and understand the intricate anatomy of mammals. This experience is designed to provide them with a deeper understanding of how forensic pathologists investigate human bodies to uncover vital information in criminal cases. By examining the fetal pig, students will gain practical insights into organ systems, tissue structures, and the physical indicators that forensic experts look for during an autopsy.
The specific items requested for this project, preserved fetal pigs, are essential to help transform abstract concepts into tangible learning experiences.
These resources will enable students to actively participate in the dissection, making direct connections between the theoretical knowledge they acquire in class and real-world forensic applications. Access to high-quality dissection tools and specimens ensures that students can conduct their investigations safely and accurately, fostering a more engaging and effective learning environment.
My goal for this project is to empower students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in forensic science. By conducting this autopsy, they will not only enhance their understanding of anatomy but also develop critical thinking, attention to detail, and investigative skills—key attributes for any aspiring forensic scientist.
What makes my students special is their relentless curiosity and passion for learning. They are eager to explore complex scientific concepts and are particularly drawn to the challenges and real-world applications of forensic science. This project will offer them a unique opportunity to dive into the world of forensic pathology, sparking their interest and preparing them for future careers in science and criminal justice.
