My Students

My students are so full of life, always asking questions and being curious! Most of my students come from high poverty homes and with the help of my school, CCDF, and On My Way to Pre-k, students can attend at a low cost or free. Their social, emotional, and cognitive skills are growing and developing more every day. Their age is a wonderful stage to absorb everything and take in different ways to learn. Their little minds are open to new things and experiences. Children are resourceful.

My Project

“I want to be a doctor!” “I want to be a veterinarian!” Those are the kinds of things I love to hear my students say. To know they can do anything they set their minds too. Dramatic play in preschool plays a very important role in the classroom. My goal for my students is to encourage them to get involved in our dramatic play area and interacting with their peers. With these items in my classroom my students' imagination can come to life. Enhancing their social and real world skills,

dramatic play offers teachable moments for conflicting situations.

Like adults, children will have conflicts arise where they don't always agree on something but learning through play they will be able to help each other and resolve the conflict and consider others perspectives. It also teaches children to learn about real life situtaions. It's an outlet for them to have a safe environment to express how they are feeling. I want my students to feel empowered like they can do anything they set their minds too.
