My Students

My students are brilliant, kindhearted, ambitious dreamers. They never give up and our classroom motto is "YET". They can't do it...yet. They haven't learned it...yet. They strive for excellence. It is impressive given any student especially their age, but it is also worth noting that these students attend a Title I school. The school has a very high number of students receiving free lunch and breakfast and most of them live below the poverty line. Any average person could make predetermined judgments about these students, but you would honestly have to meet them to believe them! They have so much spunk, motivation, talent, humor, drive, and skill that I am in awe daily! They deserve THE WORLD!

My Project

If COVID-19 has done any good, it has fostered a love for reading in my classroom! With so many uncertainties, having book available to read is a must. Books, specifically books of interest, provide an escape for my students and a safe place for them to go in their minds.

In an effort to encourage this passion, I am asking for fresh novels that have been hand-picked for my students based on their own interests and life experiences.

These are books that my students WANT to read! We will use these books in literature circles and in read-alouds.
