This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I started “Tech Free Game Club” for students in grades 3-5. This is a club where students play games in person, not online or on a console. They have to engage with each other face to face. I wanted to get them off a screen for just a little while. I wanted them to work together to learn the rules. I wanted them to cooperate and problem solve. I wanted them to have fun…win or lose.

Over the summer, I was able to find lots of games at resale shops.

However, the interest in the club is larger than I anticipated and I have 40 students signed up! I realized I did not have enough copies of games to accommodate such a large group.

I am asking for some additional copies of games like UNO, Guess Who, Perfection, and Battleship. This way I can have everyone playing the same 1 or 2 games and I only have to explain the rules for a couple of games.

Since the club is so large, it had to be moved out of my classroom and into the cafeteria. In the cafeteria, there isn’t access to the SmartBoard or a dry erase board. Because of this, I would also like some large paper pads and markers for games like Pictionary and Hangman.
