My Project

Our students have been an active part of the music community by their current participation in a recorder program, a huge musical production, and an annual talent show. They have a hunger for learning about music, specifically instruments. While these students have access to several different types of instruments, it was during our orchestra unit that they were extremely curious about the string family. Even after the unit was completed and assessed, my students would ask questions specifically about the string family. This curiosity expanded especially in 4th grade as they were creating their own instruments, a great deal of the students wanted to create a string instrument. With their curiosity and interests in mind, this project will help build a foundation of a ukulele program

A ukulele program will build musicianship, strengthen relationships, and cultivate a music-making community.

Ukuleles have been proven to teach a variety of subjects including musicianship, science, history, and culture. With your donation, you will be able to aid in providing 10 ukuleles for students to start an after-school program. This will provide a foundation to build the program with the end goal for all to have the opportunity to play during their 5th grade curriculum.
