My Students
My kindergarten students come to school with incredible enthusiasm for learning and they love to be engaged in hands-on activities. They come from a variety of backgrounds and, for some, it is their first school experience. I teach at a large school with students in Pre-K through 5th grade.
Under my care is a group of wildly curious kindergartners who are eager to learn and have fun in the process.
My Project
It is no secret that the English language is a bit confusing. For kindergarten students, who are just learning letters and sounds, it can be especially confusing. Honestly, when you think about all the words that "break the rules" of basic phonics, knowing the sounds for 26 letters is just not enough to crack the code.
The Secret Stories program uses meaningful stories to engage students and to help them learn phonics patterns they can apply to their reading and writing.
I used a small sample of The Secret Stories program with my students last school year and loved it but did not have access to all the resources. After hearing from fellow educators about how much progress their students are making with the program, I just had to find a way to get these stories into my classroom! Please help us to unlock the secrets to reading!
