My Students

My unique school serves as a satellite school for the five high school campuses in our small, rural school district. Students travel to our campus from their home campuses to take advanced placement, dual credit, and elective classes.

This is the first time almost all my students have experienced any kind of visual art.

I am the only art teacher in my school district and I feel obligated to help give my students the best quality art educational experience possible. I strive to open their eyes to the world of art.

My students are very eager to learn and are very inquisitive. When they come to class, most only think of art as painting and have never been to an art museum. Help me provide the education these students deserve by bringing art into their lives.

My Project

Microsoft Surface Pro will help me develop more innovative ways of teaching. My students are becoming more 'tech-savvy' every day. Ensuring my classroom can keep up with this 'mobile generation' is necessary to ensure students are as engaged and excited about learning as they are about browsing the Snapchat on their phones. I plan to use this device to give my students a whole new experience that is more student driven and creative than before.

I plan to unlock creativity, passion, and aspirations through new and exciting experiences.

Incorporating technology will not only complement our day-to-day routine, it will also open my students' eyes to new possibilities. I will be able to deliver higher-quality content and present information interactively across the classroom through the projector. I will be able to provide electronic notes, workbooks, and readings to students. This will be very beneficial to my students as I teach 10th through 12th grade from five separate school campuses, and there is always activities going on that takes my students away for one reason or the other.

Surface Pros are outstanding value, with seamlessly connected hardware, software, apps, and services. I will be able to use apps such OneNote to make multimedia notes and share with not only my students but with other art teachers cross my state. I will create more interesting lessons with a broader variety of media, share files online, and screen-share in class. Surface Pro devices will open a wider range of learning experiences, incorporating visual, oral, kinesthetic and auditory learners. Adding Surface Pro to my classroom will help me to unlock my students' creativity.
