Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are a group of diverse, enthusiastic learners at a Title 1 school, each with the incredible potential to reach new academic heights. To help them on their journey, I am seeking to build a classroom library filled with engaging, high-interest resources, specifically popular chapter book sets and picture books that they already love. These materials are key to building reading stamina and confidence.
For many of my students, having access to books like the "Pete the Cat" series or the "Cat Kid Comic Club" can be the spark that ignites a lifelong passion for reading.
This project also includes sturdy organizing bins, which are essential for creating an accessible, easy-to-navigate library. This system will empower my students to independently find "just-right" books that match their interests and reading levels, fostering a sense of ownership and pride. By providing these beloved book sets and an organized space, we can create an environment where every child can flourish and see themselves as a successful reader.
