My Students
I work with students that range from grades Kinder through 5th grade. This range means they have a variety of background knowledge levels and experiences. Yet, despite these differences, they have many of the same needs: to be cared for, to learn new things, and to be successful on their educational journey.
My students come to class expecting to be challenged.
They want to discover new things on their own and with their peers. They want opportunities to problem-solve, and then to apply what they learn to “real” life situations.
My Project
The Breakout Box offers many opportunities for students to collaborate together. They work as a team to find clues, solve puzzles, and "break" open the box by unlocking the coded locks.
Many people have dreamed of finding a locked box and they envision opening it to find unknown treasures.
Oftentimes the challenge of getting it open is as much fun as the contents found inside.
Since my students want to apply what they learn to "real" life situations, this educational tool allows them to use their knowledge to accomplish this task. Opening the locked box just adds excitement to the experience.
